Our Veterinarians

Dr. Paul Sostar

Dr. Paul Sostar was raised north of Hamilton in West Flamboro, Ontario, where he worked in the dairy industry part-time and during summers. Paul graduated from the University of Guelph with two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1990 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Paul has been with Linwood Veterinary Services and Hwy 89 Veterinary Services since graduation and is currently a partner in the business. Paul concentrates on dairy and beef medicine, as well as dairy production and management.

Dr. Andrew MacLeod

Originally from the Maritimes, Dr. Andrew MacLeod has been with Linwood Veterinary Services since 2001 and is currently a partner. During that time, he has focused on dairy production medicine and reproduction, including, most recently, embryo transfer. Andrew and his wife, Alison, have four young children and live in Linwood.

Dr. Kelly Haelzle

Dr. Haelzle grew up on a family dairy farm, Hells-lea Farms Ltd., near Mildmay, Ontario, and always enjoyed working with cattle. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of Guelph and lives in the Clifford area with her husband.

Dr. Kelly Fisher

I grew up in Queensville, Ontario, on a cow-calf farm, and my family owns a duck farm just outside of Newmarket. I attended the University of Guelph for my undergraduate studies and continued on to complete my doctorate of veterinary medicine at OVC. My interests include dairy reproduction and surgery, and equine medicine. In my spare time, I enjoy horseback riding, gardening and spending time with family.

Dr. Meghan Winsor

Meghan Winsor grew up in Newfoundland, Canada. Like most veterinarians, her love of animals started at a young age but the road to becoming a vet was not so straightforward. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, with a minor in agricultural business at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Meghan took a year off to work at a financial agricultural lending agency. Realizing that a desk job wasn’t the perfect fit she decided it was time to pursue veterinary medicine. She applied to schools abroad and completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) at the University of Glasgow in bonnie Scotland and graduated in 2021. As a new graduate, Meghan has spent the last year in mixed animal practice in Maryland, USA dealing mostly with dogs, cats, small ruminants and pet pigs.

Dr. Steven Mens

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the newest addition to the Linwood Veterinary Services team. My name is Steven Mens, and I joined the clinic in April 2023 as a bovine veterinarian. I bring with me a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the well-being of animals, particularly in the bovine field. I graduated from Ghent University in Belgium in 2012, where I obtained my veterinary degree. Following my graduation, I embarked on a remarkable journey that allowed me to spend a decade honing my skills and expertise as a bovine veterinarian. However, my passion for bovine care goes beyond my veterinary training. I was fortunate enough to have grown up on a beef farm in Belgium, where we raised Belgian Blues. From an early age, I developed a deep understanding and love for these magnificent animals. Witnessing firsthand the dedication required to maintain a healthy and thriving herd, I knew that my calling lay in providing exceptional veterinary care to bovine companions. During those years, I had the privilege of running my own veterinary practice in Belgium, where I worked closely with farmers and their beloved cattle. The experience not only deepened my understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by bovine animals, but it also fostered my commitment to providing exceptional care and fostering strong bonds with clients.

For as long as I can remember, I have had the dream of immigrating to Canada, with its vast landscapes and thriving agricultural communities. Now, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to turn that dream into a reality and serve the local farming community here at Linwood Veterinary Services. I firmly believe that the key to exceptional veterinary care lies in building trusting relationships with both animals and their human caregivers. By working collaboratively with you, our valued clients, I am committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to ensure the health, well-being, and productivity of your bovine companions. I am truly excited to be a part of the Linwood Veterinary Services family and to contribute to the outstanding reputation of this esteemed clinic. Rest assured that I will strive to uphold the highest standards of veterinary medicine, incorporating the latest advancements and techniques to deliver the best possible outcomes for your livestock. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and getting to know your herds personally. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns, or to schedule an appointment. Together, let us embark on a journey of exceptional veterinary care and a prosperous future for our bovine friends.
